This regime was an important aspect of the training they received at the School, teaching them discipline and responsibility that served them well through the rest of their lives. Although not all their guard duties on lonely cold and stormy nights and blistering hot summer days were all that pleasant, their experiences left them with an enduring fondness for the old Lighthouse.
They return every year to the comfort of seeing their old guarded sentinel still standing. Its loss would be a heart felt vacancy to both the Old Boys of the Nash and to their families.
